A historic 1880 forester's lodge, deep in the forest — 5 minutes from Lake Mamry. Four units for 6–12 guests, hot tub, barrel sauna and free fishing on our own lake. In the heart of old East Prussia.
Check availabilityIt all began around 1880. This house was built as a forester's lodge — and for decades it was home to hunters who supplied game from the surrounding forests to soldiers and the people of the region.
The walls hold more history than many a museum. Original German inscriptions still survive on the façade, and on the main wall a line of bullet holes — left by Red Army soldiers checking whether anyone was hiding inside. We never painted them over. They are part of this story.
Inside the main building hang photographs of the German families who lived here from the 1880s into the 1930s. Some of the pictures were brought by their descendants, who visited us in recent years — filling in, page by page, the missing chapters of this story.
After 2000 we restored the lodge with respect for what we found. Today it is a place to stay surrounded by the real history of Masuria.
